Be A Super Hero. Read! Campaign + Promotional Contest Website

1. Case study

Be a Super Hero. Read!” was a full scale marketing campaign and sponsorship targeted at grades 3-6. The nationwide contest “Be a Super Hero. Read!” encouraged children to write about a real hero in their lives. Children entered the contest by describing the human powers, such as courage, generosity, or imagination, which make their selected hero special.

2. Result

Over the course of 6 months, I collaborated with Marketing Managers and DC Comics to effectively communicate the power of reading and creativity. This project was an incredible opportunity and a rewarding design challenge involving an array of marketing pieces ranging from websites, eblasts, banners and posters. Following the launch of dccomicsfanfamily.com, this was their first collaborative contest.

3. Experience

With over 1,000 submissions, the “Be a Super Hero. Read!” was an astounding success. This campaign demonstrated the importance of cross promotion using social media and consistently updated web content. The contest and the website was featured in Wired Magazine and praised highly by Diane Nelson, president of DC Entertainment.
